I took this photo on my street - I live on a rural road in the Texas Hill Country outside of Austin, Texas.Time
This photo was taken in the late afternoon. We were going for a walk and I saw this beautiful scene.Lighting
The light was very soft and pretty with heavy cloud coverage combined with the golden hour.Equipment
Canon 5D mark III, 70-200 2.8 mmInspiration
The combination of the texture of the fence and the pretty spring flowers were the inspiration.Editing
I did some basic Lightroom touch ups. I usually use quite a bit of Photoshop but this photo in particular was processed through Lightroom. In my camera bag
The equipment I carry varies quite a bit, as I take pictures of various subjects ranging from landscape to astrophotography to studio portraits and everything in between. Standard is my Canon 5dm3, 20-200 2.8 mm, 24-105 mm, and possibly 16-35 mm. I usually try to have a flash, as well.Feedback
When I take pictures of kids and animals (I have four kids and we raise chickens and goats - I have this opportunity quite a bit), I don't do any directing or much staging at all. I watch for the interactions between the kids and animals and take the shot when I see an emotional connection between the two of them.
