Location
I took this photo as part of a fitness photography session with a renown local fitness model photographer in Melbourne.Time
This was just after midday and using available sunlight coming through some large opaque windows in a sort of makeshift gymnasium.Lighting
As previously stated, the session only relied on the available sunlight as is was filtered and dispersed through the large westerly windows which were opaque and therefore created a nice soft fill light.Equipment
This was with my trusty Canon 5D3 and the 70-200mm 2.8 L series lens.Inspiration
I had been keen to do a model related shoot for a long time in order to get comfortable posing people for pictures. It was just a matter of finding time to be a part of the session run here in Melbourne.Editing
Obviously I processed this in Black and White in order to exaggerate the contrast though to also bring out more details in the shadows. The B&W also gives it a more intimate feel.In my camera bag
Canon 5D3, 24-105mm L, 85mm 1.8 Canon and my 70-200mm 2.8 L. I also usually have my Vanguard Alta Pro tripod with Pistol grip head and maybe a Yongnuo Speedlight or two with triggers.Feedback
Go out and ask a model (fitness or otherwise) if you can do a photo session with them. Get them comfortable with you being there and help them help you try to find the best poses and angles. I prefer capturing natural moments and in a photojournalistic style, so it helps when you can get them to go about their work and not take much notice of you or be self conscious with how they might look. Also there are plenty of great photo groups out there running sessions where they can set this up for you and share their knowledge and experience.
