Location
This was taken in the Snowy Mountains in Australia, an area where bushfires went through about 10 years ago and killed many of the snowgums. It is sad to see but it does more for great photography of the bleached skeletons.Time
This was taken during a cloudy day which created a great contrast with the pale trunks and branches.Lighting
I wanted the tress to stand out against the dark, clouded background so exposed for the trunks.Equipment
This is shot on a Canon EOS 600 with a Tamron 18-270 lens.Inspiration
I loved the trees and the dark clouds enabled them to stand out and be the dominant part of the photograph.Editing
I did increase the contrast to help the trees stand out as the clouds were darkened and dodging and burning in Photoshop was also used.In my camera bag
I use a Canon EOD 600 and my main lens is the Tamron 18-270 lives on the camera to give me a large range. I will use my Canon 105 macro when I am looking for wildflowers and fungi.Feedback
The alpine areas in Australia provide a great variety of scenes to photograph from gnarled trees, wildflower meadows in summer and historic huts and are one of my favourite places to visit.
