This photo was taken on an early spring day in my front yard. The first flowers of spring to show in our area are always a sign that winter is slowly fading!Time
I got this shot around 4:00 in the afternoon just after the sun went around the corner of the house! I had been taking pictures for about an hour at that point and was about to call it a day when I walked up the sidewalk and found this patch waiting for me.Out of all of them I took that afternoon this is by far my favorite one, everything came together perfectly.Lighting
There was no need for any additional lighting here, nature provided everything I needed!Equipment
I used a Canon 70D, EF-S 18-55mm lens on a tri-pod with a remote shutter release.Inspiration
I am an amateur photographer and, as you can probably tell, flowers are my favorite subject. Give me a camera and a field of flowers and I can be lost for hours! I have even been known to go to our local home improvement center and get permission to take pictures in their garden center. Next thing I know it's 3 or 4 hours later and I'm late for dinner!Editing
I edited out a few wayward pieces of dried grass that looked really out of place. And there are 2 other versions of the picture from the one you see on Viewbug, in one version I completely edited out the bud that is in the lower left corner and the other version I pasted a crocus over that bud to hide it, just to see which way the picture would look more balanced. They all looked good depending on what angle you were standing! In my camera bag
In my bag: cameras I have a Canon 70D, a Canon T7i. Lenses I have: a Canon EF-S 18-55, a Canon EF 70-300 and a Canon EF 100. I also carry a set of extension tubes, multiple lens filters (everyone should have an ND Filter!), a battery grip, spare batteries, remote release cable, memory cards, cleaning kit and a macro rail.Feedback
Never give up! Even if it seems like you delete more pictures than you keep doesn't mean you fail! Even the most seasoned photographers delete, delete, delete! And remember to smile! You never know when the camera might be watching :)
