This was my first experience shooting "big" landscapes. We were in Bryce Canyon, Utah, United States. Such a beautiful day! I was just going crazy with delight at the formations that were right before my eyes. A photographer's paradise, for sure!Time
It was midmorning, the last stop before heading to Las Vegas, where we were to catch our flight home. I was awestruck at what I was seeing. Such beauty!Lighting
Normally I would not be too happy about the bright sunlight, but the shadows here served to emphasize the cracks and crevices we see. It all worked for the good. I am happy!Equipment
Since this trip started with a plane ride, I decided to travel light - that included my photo equipment. So I used my canon PowerShot SX700 HS. Shot at 1/800 sec. f/4 6.328mm. No other equipment.Inspiration
Inspiration for this photo was nothing more than a burning desire to see the West and to take some awesome photos.Editing
With this photo, I did no post-processing, what I saw is what you see.In my camera bag
Since this was not specifically a photo taking trip (according to my husband), the only extra equipment I carried was 4-5 extra memory cards and two extra batteries. Traveling light this trip.Feedback
When I am out anywhere, I keep my eyes open for anything worth photographing. Especially on a vacation trip do I look at everything as photoworthy. Trying to picture the scene in a frame sometimes helps me to set the photo right. When you are with a group of sightseers, though, you don't usually have the luxury of picking the best time to capture a photo. So..... Just make the best of the current opportunity.
