Location
This photo was taken in the winter in Havelte, Netherlands, I am a self taught photographer, so this shoot was pretty much a new lesson for me. Waxwings are migratory birds and they only come in the winter in the Netherlands. Sometimes in groups, but this was one single bird who did not show much.Time
I knew there was one Bohemian Waxwing, but it took days before I saw him. At last he came to the Rowan Tree. The photo was taken in the late afternoon, with perfect light.Lighting
I had the late afternoon sun on my back and the light shone beautifully on the Bohemian Waxwing and bright red berries, just as I wanted it to be.Equipment
This was a shot with the Canon 50D and the Tamron 150-600mmInspiration
This beautiful bird among the red berries inspired me to make this picture.Editing
I've just done the normal operation of the RAW format of the picture, nothing more.In my camera bag
For my photography I usually use the 150-600mm lens and my Gitzo tripod. Furthermore, I have always 2 bodys with me and several lenses, including the 18-200mm and the 90mm.Feedback
For Nature Photography, and especially for birds and animals, you need patience, lots of patience. Furthermore, you have to delve into the behavior of birds and animals. Let them come to you instead of you to the birds and animals. The best pictures do early in the morning or in the late afternoon or evening.
