Location
This shot was taken in my home studio in North Port Florida.Time
This was a morning shoot with Model Ivy Lee. We started outside shooting in and around my bamboo plants to get some morning light before moving inside.Lighting
I used an Alien Bees strobe with my 7ft parabolic umbrella.Equipment
I was using an original Canon 5D (Mark I) with a 28-135mm Canon lens. I used a Pocket Wizard to fire the strobe. I also used my A-frame ladder as I wanted to get some good height.Inspiration
Ivy Lee is a professional traveling model that was open to any and all ideas I threw at her....and I had lots of ideas! ;) We shot outside and tried several different indoor locations then I had her lay on a white backdrop on the floor and shot down from my ladder. The white was a little too bright for my taste so we then shot on the wood floor. The grain of the wood and the contrast of her hair and skin, I thought, looked great!Editing
I did a bit of softening of the skin and removed some blemishes....as well as some dog hair that appeared after a visit from my Aussie, just saying hi.In my camera bag
It all depends on the shoot. I like to be prepared for most anything with folded reflectors, batteries, remote trigger, and an array of lenses. It changes frequently.Feedback
Just keep shooting and trying different things. We shot in several locations and some didn't wow me like this shot did. Hiring a professional model is well worth the time as Ivy made this shoot with her modeling skills and input.
