Location
I took the shot while at San Francisco Port. I travel a lot because of my job. I am a Chief Engineer in a ship, I go where ever the ship goes. This was one of the locations I visited.Time
I still remember the day, It was 27 may 2015. We had just arrived San Francisco anchorage on my vessel. I went up to the bridge to have a look around, as usual. I saw the beautiful city of San Francisco and the Sun preparing to take a nap. The atmosphere was so beautiful and serene. I again glanced at the beautiful city, Ran to my room and took out my camera to take a shot. I did not have any tripod with me at that time, so it was a hand held shot.Lighting
It was the natural light from our savior, the Sun. Sun light is always the best if it can be utilized for any shot. The twilight hour always adds a dramatic light and color to a shot. So I just moved on and took the shot.Equipment
It was Nikon D610 with 28-300mm F3.5-5.6 lens. No other equipment was used for the shot. D610 with Nikon 28-300 F3.5-5.6 is really ideal equipment everyone must have. The combination takes fabulous shots even if you are a novice photographer.Inspiration
I love sunrises and sunsets / twilights. Every day, whatever the weather is, the color, and the drama, it changes during the twilight hours. Actually you can take a unique shot, at every twilight, at any place on earth. Every shot will be a different one. I love these changes during the twilight.Editing
This was a shot of my earlier days. Those days I did not know much about post processing. I used simple software called “ACD See” to process this photo. I personally do not like too much of processing, so I always try to limit photo process only to the Raw process level. In my camera bag
I travel a lot because I love to. It’s not so easy to decide which lens is apt for the tour. Earlier I did not have much collection of lenses, so it was easy, and I always carried my Nikon D610 and Nikon 28-300 f3.5-5.6. Now my collection has been enriched with a lot more variety. Now, where ever I go I pack my bag with my Nikon D810 and Nikon D500 (always a must). As for the lenses, I always carry my Nikon 28-300 F3.5-5.6 , Nikon 50 mm F1.8, Nikon 14-24 F2.8 ,Nikon 24-70 F2.8 , Nikon 105 mm Macro F2.8, Nikon 70-200 F2.8 with the Nikon 2 X III tele-converter and the Sigma 150-600 Sports a tripod and some filters. I love the weight. This weight gives me confidence that I have a great gear in my bag. The only trouble I face is packing. I really need to be very careful while packing and travelling by air. While travelling by road, there isn’t much of a problem, but by air, I double pack my gears in a bag inside another bag for the utmost safety of my loving instruments.Feedback
First of all you must be dedicated and passionate about photography. Always carry basic gear (at least), a camera with you. Never miss any opportunity to take a shot. See the Award winning photos and learn from them, Analyze your photos and try to improve. Keep your eyes open. Better shots will be there. Always try to use the Tripod while taking a shot. Be patient while using your camera, set all the required parameters carefully and then take the shot. Slow and steady wins the race. Finally decide what you want to shoot. Timing is fixed, sunrise or sunset. So during the twilight hours look for the right place from where you can get a better look at your subject. Try to find a spot where it’s less windy, this will help you to take sharper shots. Set up your camera. Click Click Click
