Taken in a studio I leased 1 day a week to learn flash photographyTime
Time in a studio isn't really a factor although this shot would have been taken around noonLighting
The lighting was a single deep silver dish with a diffuser cloth taped over to reduce the secular effect, it was placed just to my right to add depth to the facial features rather than fully square on and fattening the subject.Equipment
Nikon D600 Sigma 70-200mm @ 130mm handheld using Lencarta 500w studio flash with a deep silver dish and adapted diffuser sheet taped acrossInspiration
The models look totally inspired this shoot from the start, after a shoot a few months before and talking to my very talented MUA we both agreed she had a very 60's Twiggy look. She posed with her arms down and I asked could she position her hands below directing the fingers in particular to balance the head and also to spread the fingers rather than close them... it appeared symmetrical and we got the shot.Editing
I used PS CS5 and Silver effects Pro 2 to convert to B&W along with a few levels and curves adjustments. In my camera bag

Keep the lighting simple and watch the shadows....take plenty of test shots while getting the right light this has other benefits of relaxing your model as she gets used to the way you work...... I demonstrate what I'm after to models which also relaxes them as I've become very adept at striking a pose...lol
