Location
This photo was taken in my home studio in Moscow. Well, studio is a bit of a stretch. I do have a good number of lights and modifiers and the like, but is is usually a living room!Time
I am not sure that the time of day is relevant. However, I can tell you that this is not the first photo in this style. What motivated me is that I think hat my wife (pictured) has the prettiest eyes and usually in this shot, the eyes are not the main focus. so we set out to change it just a bit.Lighting
Not difficult lighting, the background was over exposed, there was not softbox above her and one below.Equipment
Equipment, well, as I recall, this was shot with the Canon ef85 1.2. Camera was the eos 1ds mkIII. Lighting is as described above. Hensel mostly.Inspiration
Easy, my wife, my muse. Well that and a good number of pics like this one, that I thought that we could improve on, or at least show it from our perspective.Editing
Honestly, I don't remember, but my usual post processing included levels and white balance in Lightroom with perhaps a touch up or two in Photoshop if needed. In my camera bag
For studio pics, there is no bag... But, I always use my Hensel lights, a good number of modifiers, to include soft boxes, reflectors, grids and the like. I started with two lights, then 3 then four and now about 8. After all photography is painting with light. It does take time to understand what light, where to put it and why.Feedback
I knew what I wanted in this photo. I think that that is the best advice that I can give, and I certainly don't always follow it, but visualize. Ansel Adams said it. Sometimes we get lucky accidents, but better to learn how to make the photo that you see in your mind's eye.
