Location
This photo was taken in my clients home in their child's nursery early morning.Time
I don't know the exact time of day but it was early morning. New babies are generally very sleepy in the morning after a late night of keeping the parents awake. This was their first child so getting them done even with tired parents it was important to capture the newborn phase.Lighting
I am a natural light photographer which means I don't use any artificial lighting. Window light is amazing when shooting indoors and it was perfect for the nursery for this particular photoshoot.Equipment
I used a Canon 7D with a 50mm 1.8 prime lens.Inspiration
I loved the light in this room the moment I walked in. And he was peacefully asleep so wanted to capture that moment of calmness in the beautiful light.Editing
I use Lightroom for all my post-processing. And for this specific edit I went with Pretty Presets with personal tweaks. In my camera bag
My bag currently consist of my canon 6D mark II with my 7D as a backup. The lenses I mostly shoot with are the Tamron 24-70 2.8 G2 and the Sigma Art 1.4. These two lenses are my work horses and have served me well over in all different types of situations.Feedback
Learn your lighting and the manual setting on your camera so you can get the look you are trying to achieve in camera. Also, being patient with babies is key. They are on their own schedule and you as the photographer need to work around that. This little one didn't enjoy being put down so we figured out the best position for him and mom to capture some sleepy photos.
