Behind The Lens

Location

I live where there is a couple of acres of land and we have a steady stream of all different kinds of wildlife and insects that come around. I like to go for walks with my camera and happened upon this beautiful shot. Every time I take my camera out is a new adventure for me. I've learned a lot about how to take certain shots. I'm still learning more and more every day though.

Time

It was early evening when I decided to go for a walk to the creek we have that runs along the edge of the property. I noticed this bee flying among the flowering trees and followed him around a little bit until I was able to get this shot. I was so excited that he allowed me up so close and even more so when I got home and uploaded it and saw how good it had come out.

Lighting

This was taken in natural light.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D5100. For a lens I had my Nikon 55-200mm on there. I have never used my tripod and all of my pictures are taken hand held.

Inspiration

I am always inspired to try to take great shots of any wildlife or nature that I can. The majesty of nature cannot be understated and I always strive to show it off to the best of my ability.

Editing

I only cropped the photo a bit to give an even up closer look and used a color balancing filter.

In my camera bag

Normally when I go out I just have my camera and my lens. I don't carry my bag around with me. It can make some shots a bit challenging but i enjoy the challenge and figure it will only help me to become a better photographer all around.

Feedback

The best advice I can offer is to always have your eyes open looking for something great to shoot and then having the patience to wait until the moment is right to capture the shot just the way you want it.
