My friend and I hiked in Great Sand Dunes National Park, South ColoradoTime
We started hike in the middle of a beautiful warm spring day, but had to turn back soon since weather was changing rapidly. On the way back the wind was getting stronger every minute so we had to run down the dune. I was hiding my camera under my jacket, trying to protect it from flying sand. my friend was standing on the wind side to minimize potential harm to a camera. Still, I could not stop taking pictures because of an awesome lighting, forms and shapes of the sand. Wind and rain created double rainbow over sand dunes.Lighting
A massive thunderstorm was approaching from the North, bringing dark-blue clouds and strong wind. South from us was bright sunny mid-day lighting.Equipment
I used Nikon D5000 and my buddy's back to protect Nikon from the flying sand :-)Inspiration
I love traveling. I love new places. I love nature. I always have my camera handy and keep my attention to what I see. My friends say I notice more interesting views, or subjects even when I am driving but and they are passengers...Editing
This image was slightly cropped and turned into B/WIn my camera bag
Plenty of SD cards and extra battery. Waterproof jacket or at least plastic bag to protect my camera from rain and wind. Cleaning cloth. Anorak type of jacket lets me keep camera inside, under the jacket, but it is easy to get it out when you need to make a quick shot.Feedback
If you are shooting in Colorado, you have to be prepared to rapid changes of the weather
