Location
This photo was taken back in March of 2014, during a 2-day Photo Excursion with my local Photo Club (FOS). This is Limni dock at Polis Chrysochous, Cyprus..Time
We planned to be at Limni dock for the sunset, so some 30+ people crowed on and around the dock taking photos for about an hour before sunset. During golden hour I was taking photos from below and around the dock and others on the it! I waited until nearly all left the dock, which by that time "blue hour" came and st up my tripod for this view of the dock to get the converging lines to the middle of the frame..Lighting
The sun set to the left of the frame (dock) but at blue hour the colors still showed in my frame. The two persons walking on the dock were kept, although blurred due to the long exposure (20sec), because in my opinion they "add a feeling" to the scene.Equipment
My camera gear on this occasion consisted of a Nikon D90 DX body, a Sigma AF 28-70mm F2.8 FX lens set at 28mm, mounted on a Vanguard Alta Pro tripod.. A remote cable release was of-course used, as also an ND Grad filter! The settings were: Mode: Manual Aperture: f/16.0 Shutter Speed: 20sec ISO: 200Inspiration
I always try to make the most of every place I visit during photo excursions (whether alone or in groups)... So I try to arrive first and leave last to take advantage of the light conditions as they change, as well as to get the point of view I want. This was the very first time I visited this place and by that time I had not seen any other photos of it, although there were many taken, as I found out later on.Editing
I used LR for Post processing of this image and kept to the basics (reduced highlights, lightened shadows, enhanced the whites and the blacks, added a bit of clarity, and contrast. WB was left in AUTO, but as I always shoot RAW, I could have corrected it, but it was not needed in this case.In my camera bag
My camera bag these days is packed with my Nikon D600 and an assortment of lenses and filters, a remote cable release and a Nikon SB-900 flash. My lenses consist of: Nikon AF 28mm f2.8D, Nikon AF 50mm f1.8, Nikon AF Micro 60mm f2.8D, a Samyang 14mm f2.8, a Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f2.8ED, a Nikon AF-S 80-200mm f2.8 and a Nikon AF-S TC-20E teleconverter. Of course, a set of various ND, ND Grad filters (77mm) are in the bag too.Feedback
I do not consider myself an avid Landscape photographer to give advise to others on the subject, but in my opinion, this type of seascapes are best when clouds are present in the sky and of-course during the early morning and late afternoon hours.
