Behind The Lens

Location

I was driving home after a long night of working in the ICU (I am a Registered Nurse). It was super foggy, so I was having to drive slowly. I would pass several farms/ranchers on the way home. I couldn’t resist snapping up this early morning scene. It was so beautiful and peaceful.

Time

Early morning drive home

Lighting

The fog was so dense, you couldn’t see very far in front of you, so just the dark silhouette of the cows, calves, tree, and barbed-wire fence were visible.

Equipment

I am always trying to look at the world as if I were taking its picture. I was on my drive home from work, so I didn’t have my nice camera with me. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get this picture, so I pulled out what I had with me… my cell phone.

Inspiration

The quiet, calm, peaceful beauty of the early morning fog and cows grazing in the pasture. The scene was a pretty big contrast to my hectic night in the ICU, which made me appreciate it all the more!

Editing

Yes, I brightened the scene a bit. Cell phones work in a pinch, but they aren’t perfect.

In my camera bag

I recently purchased a Sony a7R V, but I always have my cell with me ????

Feedback

I have passed by one too many gorgeous scenes because I didn’t have my equipment with me. I am so glad I refused to pass by this opportunity. Not only is it one of my favorites, but it was good for my soul as well. Pull out your phones and preserve those moments!
