Rediscovered Moments is a personal art project to restore and recompose images from a box of old, discarded 35mm slides I found in a second hand art supplies store in Boulder, Colorado. Most are badly faded and scratched, and many are from the 50s and 60s. One of my most satisfying projects!

This photo was a recomposition as part of a personal art project. I was browsing through a used art supply store one day and discovered a box of discarded vintage 35mm slides. Many of the slides were from the 50s and 60s - taken all over the world from Germany to China.Time
Unlike some of the other compositions from this project, I have no information on where this was taken, what year, or who the original photographer was. That is what has made this project so engaging - trying to research and discover small details about the subjects.Lighting
I have no information on the original camera or exposure settings.Equipment
I used a $15 light table and my Canon EOS R on my inverted tripod to digitize the original slide for recomposition.Inspiration
The “Rediscovered Moments” project has resulted in a number of amazing compositions. This one stood out among the pile of discarded slides - begging to be brought back to life.Editing
Lightroom and Photoshop were used for post processing. In my camera bag
I normally shoot with a Canon EOS 5DSR and a Canon EOS R mirrorless. With an adapter I am able to share all of my lenses across both cameras. I shoot most things on a ProMaster tripod with a Benro geared head.Feedback
I highly recommend finding a personal art project that is a bit outside the normal “box” of photography to help keep your creativity fresh.
