I have to admit that I became very disoriented and confused while hiking in the vast desert areas of Nevada's Valley Of Fire. On an overcast day, without the sun, it was difficult to maintain a sense of direction without the sun, especially in the low lying areas where the horizon is not visible. The visual rewards were worth the hike!
