I took this shot in my garden. I collect frangipanis and these little frogs love to use the flowers for shade. The weather is sub tropical so can get a bit hot and humid. I'm self taught and love learning new techniques and using different angles to get a good shot.Time
I took the shot around mid morning when the sun is just starting to get hot. I have a lot of trees around so it can get quite shaded at this time. That's when these little frogs seem to come out. You can definitely hear them so its a good sign to get out and watch them.Lighting
The lighting is natural. The trees provided the shade and give quite a serene light. The frogs seem to like it.Equipment
I took this shot with my Nikon D3200. 1/1600 - f/5.6 - 300mm - iso 400. Handheld, no flash.Inspiration
I'm a horticulturist and love plants. I also collect frangipanis, I have around 30. I also grow waterlilies in the ponds. This type of environment is a haven for all types of frogs. I have often seen these little guys jumping from plant to plant, getting in the pond with the waterlilies and finding shade in the frangipanis. They are also curious and like to keep an eye on things. Perfect subjects for the nature photographer. It didn't take me long to get inspired to photograph them.Editing
No post processing. Adjusted the contrast and brightness. That was it.In my camera bag
I carry a couple of cameras. Nikon D3200, Nikon D5100, Nikon P900 & Nikon AW100. I have a Nikkor 35mm, Tamron 18-270mm, Neewer HD 0.43X wide angle lens. Tripod and a myriad of lens filters. I am a believer that you don't need all the bells and whistles to get a good shot.Feedback
Patience, Patience, Patience! I'm never in a hurry to take a shot. Look for the right light, its about using your eyes, I know that sounds strange but I'm always looking at lighting and framing shots in my mind before the actual shot is taken. Enjoy the experience.
