Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo on a walk around of my home city, Birmingham. I mostly photograph models and portraits, so I find it inspiring to sometimes just go for a walk with my camera and capture whatever I find. Birmingham is an amazing city for photography as there are so many different buildings, people, and places, I always find something new and different.Time
It was mid afternoon on a sunny day, and this spot was great because there was cover from the direct sun so it wasn't too harsh.Lighting
I find it both challenging and fun to go out for a photo walk without any lighting and rely on what the natural light outside is providing.Equipment
This was shot in my Canon 6D Mark II with a 50mm lens and in natural light.Inspiration
As I was walking, I turned into this street which is for the tram and pedestrians only, and I loved the view of the museum in the centre of the shot. I love the buildings in the city centre of Birmingham, they are beautiful to photograph.Editing
I used Lightroom to bring out certain colour tones and pull out the warm feel of the sunny day.In my camera bag
On a photo walk such as this, I usually have 2 different lenses, a small tripod, and a couple of flash guns just in case. Oh, and spare batteries!Feedback
Just go for it, wonder around and find locations that work well, keep taking lots of photos as you go and when you look back though afterwards certain ones will stick out.
