f-11, 1-500 sec., 145mm

Presiding over historic Newport for decades, Castle Hill Inn, a beautiful Victorian structure located on 40 manicured acres overlooking Narragansett Bay on its own private peninsula, is a 19th-century mansion that originally served as the famed Newport summer home of noted Harvard marine biologist Alexander Agassiz. During the great hurricane of 1938, the waters of Castle Hill beach and cove became one, cutting the peninsula off from the mainland. During World War II, the Castle Hill mansion served as an impromptu base for naval officers. At the end of the war, the residence morphed into a summer hotel. Both hotel staff and guests have reported seeing a female ghost wandering through the halls at night. . The spirit, which is said to be a relative of Alexander Agassiz, has even been accused of throwing china from time to time. She has been seen here for over 25 years, so it's safe to say she isn't going anywhere. Some claim that Mr. Agassiz himself haunts this place. Today, There are nine guest rooms in the Mansion, including the famed and highly luxurious Turret Suite which offers a 360-degree view of Narragansett Bay that can be enjoyed while soaking in a bathtub. There are also a total of 35 suites and guest rooms that are located in the beach houses, chalet, and cottages located along the coastline.
