Some serious action in one of the women's individual Table Tennis matches in the European Championships currently being held in Munich. This is one of 9 different sports involved with the championships, the biggest event of its kind in Munich since the Olympic Games in 1972, exactly 50 years ago. The match shown in the image was between Debora Vivarelli of Italy (in blue) and Tessy Gonderinger of Luxembourg (in black), the latter winning 3 games to 1. Having played quite a lot of table tennis when I was younger, even representing my college at Cambridge University, it was quite something to see the high standard of top class players close up.
