I have been trying to explain this to my self since the last 20 years or so. In the year 2007, I was a rookie photographer for a magazine in Delhi and I would roam around the streets aimlessly to capture interesting moments. It so happened that one day I went inside the Gurudwara Bangla sahib (It is situated near Connaught Place, New Delhi on Baba Kharak Singh Marg), I went to the sanctum sanctorum and offered my prayers and as I turned around to leave, I saw this man with his head on his lap. It was as if he had dismantled his head from his neck and was holding it with his hands on his lap and meditating. I didn't want to miss the moment, but at the same time I thought it would be inappropriate and disrespectful to click the picture from the front, as that would make me the photographer the object of prayer. I quickly walked behind the headless meditating man and took this picture. As soon as I finished taking the picture, the Nihangs (traditional sikh guards) saw me and told me that I had done enough, and that I should leave now. I walked away and waited outside at the entrance of the Gurudwara so that I could see the headless man again. I couldn't believe or disbelieve what I saw, but as you can see that I had a RAW picture of the event on my camera to prove that the event actually happened. After a few minutes the man did come out but now he was absolutely normal with his head firmly fixed on his neck where heads normally belong. While I was waiting at the entrance I was thinking of talking to the man when he came out but when the moment actually came my voice didn't come out of my mouth. I left the place in a hurry and upon reaching office I filed the photograph, which was of course not published. Neither did I know how to explain nor did the editor know what to write. I call this picture Fountain head, because whatever the subject of the photograph may have been, this picture made me the photographer think about things that I never thought of or ever imagined I would think of.
