It was the charms of Naples that inspired me to take some lovely photos to reminisce about this beautiful place and moments. At the bottom of the stairs from this spot is visible in its small outline in the clouds, the infamous Vesuvius volcano, known for its bad reputation, and the sculpture standing in the middle of the stairs at the descent from 1836 founded by Nel Colera gives a special atmosphere to this very place.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo while walking and exploring the beautiful corners and streets of Naples on Vico Croce a Cariati street.

Time

I took the photo on December 31, 2019 at 10:25 AM

Lighting

I have a note that it was Tuesday, December 31, 2019. Here a jumping off point for all those watching, but it was 10:25 A.M. I decided to take this photo because I was captivated by the view up the stairs down Naples. Already walking up the stairs uphill, I knew I had to mark this place with my gaze, my vision

Equipment

While taking the picture I used Nikon D5200, Aperture 28/5, ISO 360, Shutter 1/125, Focal length 32/1. Tamtron lens with AF 18-200 mm F/3.5-6.3, I did not use additional lighting, picture was taken without a tripod?

Inspiration

It was the charms of Naples that inspired me to take some lovely photos to reminisce about this beautiful place and moments. At the bottom of the stairs from this spot is visible in its small outline in the clouds, the infamous Vesuvius volcano, known for its bad reputation, and the sculpture standing in the middle of the stairs at the descent from 1836 founded by Nel Colera gives a special atmosphere to this very place.

Editing

The photo is the result of processing, because at the time of taking the picture in the frame on all sides, despite many attempts to take the shot (accurately almost covering half of the stairs stood a transport truck. I had to go to a lot of trouble to find the owner and ask him to move the car about 2 meters to get a full frame. Of course, the situation was very funny and talking in "sign language" and all other languages except Italian to determine the owner of the car first and then ask him to move it proved possible, and the result worth the effort. I always take photos in jpg + RAW mode. The harsh light from the sea and Vesuvius at this time of day gave me the idea to use the sky background from another photo from Naples. I achieved the effect by superimposing a different sky background. Of course, I had to correct the light of the architecture of the houses slightly to be in accordance with the night sky light.

In my camera bag

I often use my Nikon 5200 camera, but I also like to use my iPhone 11 Pro, or sometimes another smartphone, to take "notes," it gives me the opportunity to see the different effect of light with different lenses and equipment.

Feedback

Of course, there are no universal tips for people who like photography, often designated will contribute to the realization of a nice earnings. I do not deal with photography professionally, but I am an artist and painter. I like taking photos / notes of the places I visit so that I can later use some light, mood or color effects in my painting. The only advice I can give you is take photos and play with light, shadow and capture the mood and fleeting moment in the frame. Each photo has its own story and it is nice to come back to the places in retrospect and remember this moment.
