This photo perfectly captures the beauty of just one of the majestic and fairytale-like views you can expect to see during a tour through the depths of the hidden underground Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn. This photograph takes me right back into the scenery and perfectly captures the setting, mood, and feeling we had in the Cango Caves. a Photo that brings back so many exciting memories.

I took this photo while on honeymoon in Oudtshoorn. We decided to visit the Cango Caves on a romantic adventure, and I managed to take some of the most beautiful photographed memories home as a personal souvenir.Time
It was our third day on honeymoon in Oudtshoorn and we were finally ready to leave our cozy little cabin in search for some adventurous endeavour. I was super excited to visit the Cango Caves as I could remember a school tour we had years ago and wondered if the magical caves were still as majestic as it was back then, but once we got there I was overjoyed to find that it was even more spectacular than I could recall. Funny how perspective changes over the years. I took this photo on the 23rd of December 2017 midday.Lighting
When it comes to landscape photography, lighting can make all the difference. Luckily for me, the lighting provided inside the Cango caves itself is enough to turn this beautiful limestone structured caves into a magical and otherworldly scenery. All I had to do was use my flash, and the Caves did the rest.Equipment
This photo was taken with my Nikon D3100, with a AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G lense. Its a hand held shot and no other equipment was needed.Inspiration
Being on a romantic tour with your newly wed husband, in what seemed to feel like a magical otherworldly hidden cave, it almost felt like a fairy tale. I remember the Cango Cave guide prompting the group to move to the next scenery when I thought to myself "No way am I going to forget this view", so I snuck away just for a moment departing from the group and took this beautiful scene home.Editing
With this particular shot, because of the natural beauty of the lighting in the Caves, I felt there would be no need for any post-processing. And I think this scenery speaks for itself. In my camera bag
At this stage my Nikon D3100 goes wherever I go. I always take two lenses with wherever I go, my AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G for closeups, detail, micro shots and range, the other AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm 1:4-5.6G for more distance and zoom for those out of reach shots.Feedback
Landscapes is all about the right timing and the right lighting. In this specific cave like scenery the lighting was the key that added that touch of magic. I would personally say use whatever light you can get and play with it. I am still very much an amateur photographer but one thing I know is this: Take a "thousand" photos from a thousand different angles of the same scene, and you will be sure to find atleast 1 shot that will amaze you.
