The village of Blanchisseuse is separated from the other side of the north coast by the Marianne River. The Bailey bridge was the way across the river for generations. It eventually collapsed and now there is a temporary bridge which crosses the river. The dirt road which goes further along the coast begins at the other side of this bridge. For that road you're better off with a four wheel drive vehicle, especially when it rains!
