Location
This photo was taken on a farm in southern Michigan. It was my first ever photoshoot with a couple of best friends, we were lucky that the time ran over and were blessed with a beautiful sunset.Time
This day would have been at the midst of fall, when the sun begins setting earlier and earlier every night. After working my desk job, I booked it over to one of their family farms for a quick shoot. They were great to work with and we quickly ran over on our time, but the sunset was too pretty to not take advantage of.Lighting
I wanted to capture the sunset and still be able to see the subjects, not just a black silhouette. It was all about balancing exposure, the angle and a little touch up in Lightroom.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon COOLPIX P900 10/300 f/3.2 5.9mmInspiration
My inspiration for this shot came from the situation. Their idea for the shoot was best friends, and their props included their favorite lite beer brands. It made sense to put them infront of the sunset, I wanted them close so they put their arms around each other and then told them cheers!Editing
Small adjustments in Lightroom were necessary to bring out their outfits and not underexpose the sky.In my camera bag
I always keep a plethora of lens filters on me, my tripod, an extra battery, and an extra storage card.Feedback
My biggest tip is to think outside of the box and work with what you've got. It's easy to get stuck on forcing a certain image to come out the way you want, but sometimes accidents or a new angle could reap better results than you expected.
