We made a wintertime trek to Mono Lake (Lee Vining, CA) to celebrate our 30th Anniversary in 2015. We were blessed with a windless morning and managed to get our photos taken before a family with an entirely oblivious teenage son showed up. Upon their arrival they proceeded to put on a clinic of lousy parenting practices. Not only did Jr. proceed to march directly to the lake's edge, picked up handful of rocks, and without giving so much as a moment's consideration to how his plans for the rocks in his hands might be received by the handful of serious photographers, he naturally proceeded to begin tossing his stones into the lake, revelling in the rings that his rocks produced. A moment ago I noted this as a lousy parenting exhibition. I feel justified in assigning the blame in this way - because his parents also were oblivious to what he was doing. So I suppose you could say he came by his lack of situational awareness honestly, eh?
