Behind The Lens

Location

This is an annual classic car village fête in a small village in West Midlands, United Kingdom. It bursts with displays of color, engines of all sorts, delicious craft beers at the local pub and, yay, you guessed it, a river!

Time

After a late start to our day out, I took my time taking pictures of every single spot that screamed at me "colours!, nature!, cars!, bikes! river!" and I didn't spare any phone memory or passer's by stares. Finding this spot was a godsend as we had been looking for a toilet for over two miles. I went to the pub to use the facilities. Of course I had to go when we were at the furthest point from a toilet, it's my body's natural way of leading me to great sceneries that otherwise would be missed!

Lighting

The natural light on an overcast day in England is so tough to work with, that 99% of the shots are deleted, or simply not executed. This was a good day, with kind clouds.

Equipment

I used my trusted personal phone whilst I mentally hug a mirrorless camera.

Inspiration

As soon as I saw the foot bridge I knew I had to stand on it and take in the view from different angles. The river drew me in straight away and I knew I had found my shot when I spotted the row of motorbikes on the riverbank.

Editing

It was an incredibly humid and overcast day and I tried my hardest for a good shot to get myself out of too much post manipulation. This proved a good strategy as the shot did require a few hours of work to 'cast a spell' on that wicked overcast sky ????.

In my camera bag

My phone is my trusted companion as it, my keyes & wallet are the sacred three check before leaving the house.

Feedback

Stop to enjoy a particular place you like, whether it's passing by or regularly visiting it. The more you look at it, the better it gets and ideas tend to follow. Don't seek, it yourself be found.
