Location
I took this photo from a terrace in Herceg-Novi, at the entrance into the Boka-Kotor Bay in Montenegro (Europe). The hill opposite divides Montenegro and Croatia.Time
The photo was taken in the afternoon during the "golden hour", which is my favourite time for taking photos due to its magical hues.Lighting
This was the natural light as it was at that very moment during the golden hour.Equipment
This was shot on Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III, without using flash. As it was taken at dusk and I didn't have a tripod to hand, I rested the body of the camera on the terrace balustrade to make it steady.Inspiration
I like natural photography as I find nature provides us with the most magical lighting in itself and I am inspired to capture that.Editing
I didn't do any post-processing and this is the true image of what the landscape looked like in the golden hour light. In my camera bag
I used to use Canon 5D, but I found it a bit bulky so I downsized to Canon 600D and eventually downsized further to Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III which is the camera that this image has been captured with. The main reason for me was the practical nature of a smaller camera that is a good all-rounder. It means I can easily carry it in a handbag rather than having to carry a rucksack, it doesn't weigh me down when I am out and about and also my child likes using it too, as it's a very user-friendly camera, so I am happy for it to be part of my child's learning experience at the same time. Initially I bought the camera as part of a vlogging set and it came with a very handy tripod and a remote control (which I've managed to misplace almost immediately!).Feedback
For me personally, it's important to feel inspired to take photos during a moment that feels special for whatever reason. It really helps to have the camera that makes you comfortable to carry it around, so that it is to hand when the opportunity arises. Also, from my experience, it does not need to be the latest or the most expensive piece of kit there is on the market, but even the simplest camera would do the trick when someone has an eye to catch the right moment for taking a photo.
