The National Gallery of Art, and its attached Sculpture Garden, is a national art museum in Washington, D.C., located on the National Mall, between 3rd and 9th Streets, at Constitution Avenue NW. Open to the public and free of charge, the museum was privately established in 1937 for the American people by a joint resolution of the United States Congress. Andrew W. Mellon donated a substantial art collection and funds for construction. The core collection includes major works of art donated by Paul Mellon, Ailsa Mellon Bruce, Lessing J. Rosenwald, Samuel Henry Kress, Rush Harrison Kress, Peter Arrell Brown Widener, Joseph E. Widener, and Chester Dale. The Gallery's collection of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, sculpture, medals, and decorative arts traces the development of Western Art from the Middle Ages to the present, including the only painting by Leonardo da Vinci in the Americas and the largest mobile created by Alexander Calder.
The Gallery's campus includes the original neoclassical West Building designed by John Russell Pope, which is linked underground to the modern East Building, designed by I. M. Pei, and the 6.1-acre (25,000 m2) Sculpture Garden. The Gallery often presents temporary special exhibitions spanning the world and the history of art. It is one of the largest museums in North America.

I took this photo at the National Gallery in Washington DC.Time
I took this photo at the National Gallery, around 3:00 p.m.Lighting
The image should have relatively even lighting, which was helped by an overcast sky. I achieved further brightening with Photoshop.Equipment
I took this picture with a Canon EOS 5D, Mark II, a Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM. The focal length was 22mm, the aperture was ƒ/5.0, the exposure time was 1/40 sec, the ISO sensitivity was 400. I didn't use a flash.Inspiration
First there was this large gray stairwell, which was interrupted by a series of stairs with railings and an escalator. Another important consideration was to photograph two people on the different stairways in a specific and exciting position. The different diagonals in the picture also contribute, to what I believe to, be a great tension in the picture.Editing
I developed the image in Photoshop (as DNG). I did the further processing, colors and sharpening with the Nik filters, Viveza 2 and Nik Sharpener. In my camera bag
My photo equipment usually consists of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and EOS 5D Mark IV cameras. Since I mainly photograph architecture, I have the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM and the Sigma Objektiv 12-24mm f/4 DG HSM Art lenses with me. From time to time I also have a Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Sport 018, in my camera bag.Feedback
I can only say; go through the world with open eyes, use your eyes like a scanner so that you don't lose any motif. Of course, be curious too. Always look around the next corner, you might discover a new motif there, a new point of view. Photography is just a wonderful hobby
