This was taken in my home studio in Richmond VA.Time
It actually took me a couple of hours to figure out what I wanted to do and set it up, but I started around lunch time and finished around 3.Lighting
I used a fog machine in the background so the the lights with gels looked more prominent with out throwing too much light one me.Equipment
I used my Nikon D850 to take the picture with an 85mm 1.4 mounted on a tripod. I was shooting tethered with Capture One so that I could focus on my face and make sure I was centered and that there was enough fog.Inspiration
I had not taken a self portrait since before the pandemic and I felt I needed to update my images to better reflect my current vibe.Editing
I used Capture One for the initial edits and then moved to photoshop for the final touches including dodge and burning.In my camera bag
What’s in my bag is a very open ended question since I have 8 bags that serve very different purposes.Feedback
Just keep testing, the advantage to shooting tethered is you get to correct along the way and make sure you get what you are shooting for.
