In the middle of 2021, fire services took advantage of the cooler conditions to complete some scheduled burn offs. Unfortunately for the area, a significant storm front came through with strong winds, creating an uncontrolled fire front in the hills that surround Fairhaven Beach. As a result clouds of smoke swept across the beach and both the fires and sunset lit up the sky.
