Behind The Lens

Location

This pic was possible outside the horse stables in Germany/Brandenburg. The horses can move without any borders, wires and fences, so they are relaxed and seeking contact to anyone coming closer. You might have something to spoil them.

Time

Best time for horses seems to be before sunsets. Insects come to rest and the heat is over.

Lighting

Best lighting is a overcast daylight or golden afternoon atmosphere.

Equipment

Thankful for safe distance is a zoom lens. I prefer 18-135 mm, allowing me to choose 18 mm when to close and the tele setting when the distance must be overcome.

Inspiration

The expression of horses and their reflections on noise or disturbances nearby.

Editing

When shooting against the setting sun, it’s necessary to rectify the exposure.

In my camera bag

Wideangle zoom as well tele zoom, tripod nearby.

Feedback

Go down on your knees when shooting against the sun, to reach utmost silhouette and to catch sun rays nearby the bottom.
