The southern French town of Aigus Mordes is enclosed by a fortress wall with defence towers. Aigues-Mortes is considered an outstanding example of the medieval enclosed town. In spring and winter it is very foggy due to the adjacent salt marshes of the Carmarque. This often creates a very mystical atmosphere.
