Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in the woods adjacent to my holiday home in Northern Italy.

Time

Early in the morning, I love to go for walks and relax while breathing nature.

Lighting

Well, in nature photography this is very important, especially in woodland photography. During winter months, just before sunrise or in the evening after sunset you can often find mist and fog, this makes the light much more diffused and creates gradual and pleasant shades !

Equipment

This is a good question, usually when I take wildlife photos I do it with the Canon R6, 70-200mm 2.8 IS and the 2x handheld multiplier, in this case I wanted to take a photo of the forest, so I composed with my Canon 5DSr, 70-200 2.8 and tripod, this magnificent male deer appeared suddenly, a nice and lucky surprise !

Inspiration

I'm afraid I answered earlier, I love to breathe and admire the tranquility of nature, early in the morning away from human presence !

Editing

Of course, trying to preserve the lights as much as possible, in these light conditions you must necessarily underexpose and recover the shadows and pop the lights in post.

In my camera bag

In these cases, when I don't have a specific goal, I ride quite loaded. I have a tripod, filters, a Canon 5DSr for landscapes, while for wildlife photos I use a Canon R6. I always have with me the 24-70 2.8, the 70-200 2.8 and a 2x teleconverter to have focal lengths from 24 to 400mm, and a DJI AIR2S for photos from above ! But when I know to focus only on the landscapes I bring 16-35 instead the Canon R6.

Feedback

I certainly recommend everyone to experience nature as I do, away from people to fully appreciate it, early in the morning, late in the evening, during the winter in summer resorts, while it rains or while there is a thick fog, in short, when "ordinary people" stay at home !
