Location
In South Georgia there is this gorgeous spot called “driftwood beach” it is just south of Brunswick.Time
I’ve been to this beach at sunrise and mid day. By far sunrise is the most magical and inspiring time to be there. This was taken around 7:30amLighting
I love the artistic look of long exposures. However, dialing in the correct exposure and shutter time before the magic of sunrise is over can be challenging. You have far less opportunity for a shot in perfect light when your shot is 60-100 seconds long.Equipment
I used my Nikon D750, my BELOVED 14-24 F2.8, a tripod, a 10 stop ND filter and a shutter release.Inspiration
The beach was beautiful at sunrise. I was taking pictures of another tree down the beach when I looked to the side and saw this partially submerged tree seemingly reaching out to me. I immediately rearranged my gear and started trying to frame this piece of art coming out of the ocean.Editing
I love the art of photography, if I alter my photos too much I begin to feel like a graphic designer. This photo has minimal touches on the lighting, color and temperatureIn my camera bag
Nikon D750, my 14-24mm F2.8, a 50mm 1.8, a 70-300mm 5.6, a variety of filters, a tripod and a shutter release.Feedback
Get out early before sunrise and get the sun at every stage. I have 15 pictures of this scene before the sun was just right and my exposures worked beautifully.
