Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my house during the California fires.

Time

It was probably around afternoon, the whole sky looked red though from the fires that had been going on for a couple of days in California.

Lighting

The photo was taken with natural lighting, the reddish brown light was from the fires.

Equipment

For this picture the only thing I used was my smartphone. It's a Samsung Galaxy A51 phone.

Inspiration

I love taking pictures of my cats so I'm always looking for moments where they look more photogenic. That day with the lighting and the way my cat was standing was perfect, so i couldn't pass on that opportunity.

Editing

I did edit the picture a bit. I fixed the lighting a bit to make it look a bit more dramatic and have more shadows. I also added a bit more texture to the photo.

In my camera bag

I only have one camera so I use my Canon EOS 60D and two lenses. I have a Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 STM lens and a Tamron SP AF Aspherical 17-35mm 1:2.8-4 lens, and sometimes when I don't have my camera with me I use my smartphone.

Feedback

I think my advice would be to not let moments pass by. If you find a moment worth capturing then do it and take it with your phone if it is necessary, you don't always need the best camera to take a good picture.
