The photo was taken in Perth Western Australia of our iconic walk bridge, Matagarup Bridge, designed to accommodate 10,000 people going to the footie.Time
Any time is right to take a photo of this beautiful bridge. This was taken in Autumn. At night the bridge lights up and if you’re lucky, it may sequence all the colour combinations. Then the lights pick out swans or a stylised person reflecting on the waterLighting
The autumn day was perfect to show the lines of the bridge, it’s vastness, and just how tiny you are in comparison to its arching beauty. (If you zoom in you will see a man and two children - giving perspective to the size of this bridge)Equipment
All of my photography uses an iPhone 12 Pro camera. Many underestimate the power of a phone camera, but used correctly or creatively, you can get just as poignant a photo as you would with expensive photography equipment.Inspiration
I love this bridge, and have taken many many photos of it at various angles, lighting and moods. Every time I photograph it I find a different angle, perspective.Editing
There was no post processing. I photographed the bridge in iphone raw format. I didn’t have to modify one thing. In my camera bag
The only thing I carry with me is my iphone. Being innately lazy I hate carrying stuff! The best camera is the one you have with you.. and my iphone is my constant companion!Feedback
For anyone who doubts that a phone camera can produce as good a photograph as an expensive camera, look again. Although you may not be able to zoom in as far as you would like sometimes, there are lenses that can be attached. And you will be greatly surprised at the results if you don’t just point and click. Get out there with your phone instead of that lumpy bulky camera and tripod one day! You may just be pleasantly surprised! There is also some magical software you can use to enhance your photography (Snapseed is free and very versatile!) so if you want surreal then you can easily achieve this also.
