Behind The Lens

Location

I took his photo at Cottesloe in Western Australia just before the sun disappeared into the sea. My son looked so serene just watching it go and I couldn’t resist capturing the moment.

Time

What a magical time sunset is.. sometimes such strong colours and other times, like this day, with a silver light.

Lighting

There were no edits to this photograph. I was just very lucky I guess.. it isn’t often you find silver light with a setting sun.

Equipment

I only photograph with my iPhone. This one was taken on an iPhone 7 Plus.

Inspiration

I had taken my son and grand daughter to the beach for the afternoon. I always have my iPhone with me as I love photography! I am shy to say but I forget to bring any camera (which is a very old canon A70). I had been snapping them playing all afternoon.

Editing

I do post processing mostly with Snapseed however this photograph didn’t need any tweaking at all. It is as it was shot.

In my camera bag

I carry just my iPhone. I have a tripod and lens ball and will be taking them on a shoot in Fremantle on a photography walk I have enrolled in, however it is usually just my iPhone.

Feedback

I find the best shots are by being at the right place at the right time I am afraid. I walk every morning and see a leaf, or a tree, or a bird flying.. you can’t orchestrate that. You just need to have your ‘photography eye’ open and see beyond the mundane to see the beauty in the mundane.
