Location

I took this self portrait at home on a random inspired whim

Time

It was taken on an evening in August, I had just come home from a beautiful blues gig where I had enjoyed taken photos of some people and musicians

Lighting

I'm an amateur so my processes tend to be quite simple. I wanted a misterious and shadowy shot, the only light source was a little lamp that I kept moving around until I got the desired effect

Equipment

Taken with a Google pixel 4a, I wish I had equipment to talk about!

Inspiration

I think it was the relaxation and joy that came from enjoying live music, the first time post COVID! The lighting in my room just coming from a small lamp suddenly looked amazing to me, and I had to try some shots. I wanted to play with shadows and warmth so I got in front of the camera

Editing

I did some adjusting to shadows and contrast to accentuate the dark side of the photo

In my camera bag

No equipment I'm afraid, I do what I can with modern phones and hope for the best! Maybe one day

Feedback

To be adventurous and trust your taste and intuition, even without any proper photography knowledge you can create beautiful images. Take lots and lots of shots and pay attention to details that you might want to change, try different positions of light, hands, body, even weird dumb ones, sometimes you might be surprised with what will give you interesting shots
