I normally go to Bolivar Flats Shorebird Sanctuary at dawn rather than dusk. The birds tend to be more active then, plus the wait for the ferry to get from Galveston Island to Bolivar Peninsula is much shorter, normally only ten minutes. But I recently made a last minute decision to head over there after spending most of the morning and early afternoon at another wildlife refuge nearby, and even though the 1 hour and 15 minute wait for the 20-minute ferry ride seemed interminable, it was well worth it in the end. The sunset was so spectacular that the only post-processing I did was some noise-reduction.
