Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken outside my home when I woke up and heard some magnificent thunder.

Time

It was taken just 11pm at night. I could hear the storm coming and just knew it would be worth it.

Lighting

When I ran outside I could see crawler lightning spreading across the entire sky, it was amazing. Before I went outside I made sure to adjust my camera settings starting with ISO100, f/8 @ 30seconds exposure initially but ended up bumping up the ISO to 400 to capture the smaller crawlers.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D750 set at ISO400 f/8 @ 30seconds exposure, 50mm Nikkor Lens & tripod. No other gear was used.

Inspiration

When I heard the frequency of thunder I knew I was going to have a great chance at capturing lightning. I find it exhilarating!

Editing

I did Raw processing in PS, then brought up the lightning more in LR & then did colour processing and noise reduction in PS.

In my camera bag

Apart from my beloved Nikon D750, I always have my Nifty Fifty & flash heads.

Feedback
