"Where are you going, girl? Don't run away ..." Here I liked the concept of a "rebellious strawberry": they were both supposed to dive into the cocktail glass but one was not quite of that idea and it bounced out, running away. That's why I like to call this shot "The runaway strawberry" ...

Location
This photograph was taken on the terrace of my home studio where the water, which I certainly would have poured out in large quantities, could not do any damage. The flash and camera are mounted on stands at a suitable distance from any splash of water. The worktop is a 5mm glass plate, 100x70cm, on top of a black cardboard, very useful for obtaining a natural reflection of the scene on the vertical plane. As a background, a black velvet cloth.Time
Working in studio and using some flashes allows you to shoot at any time of the day (and of the night, of course!). This photograph was taken around 4 pm ... Why? Because, at about 5 pm, I had in mind to have a snack using the strawberries in this photo together with a bunch of blueberries and raspberries !! Summer is a good season for berries...Lighting
The best way to freeze the action is to use a flash; then you also need that bit of luck that makes you hit the "right moment" you are trying to fix. The flashes that I normally use are the Canon E580EX II and the Canon 430EX, individually or combined with each other using a wireless remote control system.Equipment
Here I used Canon EOS 5D Mark II with Canon EF 50mm f / 1.4 USM lens, ISO 800, f/11 @ 1/200sec. K&F Tripods and RS-80N3 remote switch, and the Canon Speedlite 430EX in manual mode.Inspiration
I like to observe dynamic situations in which I can capture a moment that strikes the eye and the imagination. Here I liked the concept of a "rebellious strawberry": they were both supposed to dive into the cocktail glass but one was not quite of that idea and it bounced out, running away. That's why I like to call this shot "The runaway strawberry" ...Editing
In this image, I limited myself to retouching the black of the background which was not as black as I would have liked it to be and I applied a slight crop of the image. Nothing else.In my camera bag
In my bag, in addition to the Canon 5D Mark II camera body, the faithful Canon EF 50mm f / 1.4 USM, which has become my lens of choice, is never missing; in addition I often use the Canon EF 70-200L f / 4 and the cheap Canon EF 28-105mm USM. As a flash I use the Canon Speedlite 580EX (and the Canon Speedlite 430EX as a "slave" of the 580 when useful) and a K&F tripod. As a "spare body", I have a Canon 5D Mark I. Nothing exceptional but all extremely functional.Feedback
When I set up a photographic set, I try to visualise in my mind which image I want to obtain and even if I already know that it will never be exactly like this, it helps me plan the operations to be carried out. Images like this, where seizing the moment is essential, require, above all, a lot of patience and more than a few attempts. And a bit of luck? That always helps too!
