This summer has been one of the worst wildfire and drought seasons on record. Our region was particularly hard hit with 9 huge wildfires surrounding us and at one point cutting off any possible escape route to safety in all directions. The wildfire smoke was so bad that daylight turned to twilight. Once the travel risks were lower, we were able to go on a road trip up into the Monashee Mountains to see if we could get above the smoke and to see how some of the forests fared. We were unable to get above the smoke layer which speaks to the massive amounts of smoke from the fires. This is Lambly Lake or Bear Lake as it is more commonly called. In early summer this is one of the best "hidden" secrets in the Okanagan, BC.
