I love taking sunset photographs and I'm lucky enough to live close enough to several beaches. This photo was taken at Oak Island, North Carolina. I'm a hobbyist photographer and learn so much each time I go out to shoot. I originally didn't like to have people in my landscape photographs and would try to wait for them to move out of the way but as I have learned, sometimes people can add something to a photo. I loved how this couple walking their dog are silhouetted with the dropping sun in the background.Time
This was taken at sunset which for North Carolina (and with it being Daylight Savings Time) it was around 7:30 p.m.Lighting
This photo was taken just using the natural lighting of the setting sun.Equipment
I used my Canon RP camera with my 24-240mm kit lens. I also used a tripod and a wired cable release so I wouldn't shake the tripod when taking the photo.Inspiration
I have always loved sunset and sunrise photos. During Daylight Savings Time the sun rises a little too early for me to make it to the beach but I find just as much beauty in sunset photos. They have a very relaxing quality to them.Editing
I am still learning to use photoshop so I mostly use Lightroom. I did do some post-processing but I didn't do very much. Usually, I check the box for lens correction and then lightly move the sliders to experiment with Clarity, White Balance, and maybe Shadows and Highlights. In my camera bag
When I know I am going for sunset photos, I mainly carry my Canon RP, the 24-240mm lens, and my 50mm lens, lens wipes, and extra batteries. They all fit nicely in my small bag. If I'm not sure of what I will be shooting then I have my camera backpack and add a lens ball, a 35mm macro lens, and lens filters for all of my lenses.Feedback
Just pay attention to the weather before you go out. Hope for plenty of clouds as a cloudless sky doesn't seem to produce as pretty sunset photos as ones with clouds in them. Also, I have learned that the best time for really colorful sunset photos is in the wintertime rather than the summer.
