Thank you! I have been blessed with many Peer Awards but this is my first People's Choice.

Behind The Lens

Location

Cassels Lk, southwest of Temagami, ON.

Time

Evening, probably about 9:30pm, just before having a snack treasured camping snack & heading to bed.

Lighting

Not really other than I wanted the sunset to still be part of the image and somehow connected to (or a continuation of) the fire with the trees as silhouettes. It was just timing...

Equipment

My Nikon D-800 with a Sigma 18-35 3.4-4.5 zoom while sitting in a camp chair, nothing else.

Inspiration

I always take a record of my trips. Camping is much preferred for the wilderness and wildlife. I also tend to take too many shots of a situation, always tweaking some setting so I can choose the best shot later. But, as I'm getting older and health is declining, having memories to cherish (often inspired by the pics) is a big reason.

Editing

I always aim to take the best pic I can so that the least amount of post processing possible is done to the image. In this case, auto-contrast and a bit of cropping, that's all.

In my camera bag

My Nikon D-800, a Sigma 18-35 1:3.5-4.5 zoom, a Af-S Nikkor (Nikon) 70-300 1:4.5-5.6 G ED, UV filters always on both lenses, circular polarizer filters for both, an extra battery & memory cards. I usually have a 35-70mm lense also but it needs servicing.

Feedback

Patience and the willingness to play with your camera settings. Not only do you keep learning but the results can be memorable and inspiring.
