Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Farmington, New Mexico at Farmington Lake. This is a beautiful, somewhat unknown, area in Northwest New Mexico.

Time

This was just toward the evening, at the peak of the sunset.

Lighting

It was perfect. I did little editing on this photo because the natural lighting was so good.

Equipment

I used a Nikon 5600 DSLR. No flash.

Inspiration

This is one of my favorite places to visit, and sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers. Wild sunflowers grow all over New Mexico in the summer. Some people consider them weeds, but I love them and take pictures of them whenever I get a chance.

Editing

A little. This barely needed any. I used adobe Lightroom, and I think edited a little for clarity and vibrancy.

In my camera bag

I'm always on the go, so I try to keep it simple. I usually bring a wide angle and zoom lens, and at night I always bring a tripod just in case! To be honest, I keep photography very simple. I try to capture what is already beautiful and naturally there.

Feedback

Flowers of any sort in the foreground always make a photo pop! There are millions of pictures of pretty sunsets, but if you can find something in the foreground that stands out, that will make your photo stand out.
