Behind The Lens

Location

Greeter Falls located in Altamont, Tennessee.

Time

I took this photo about 7:30am. The softer lighting conditions are a perfect accent for waterfalls.

Lighting

With softer lighting conditions, it can make accenting waterfalls easier on the water, and lighting through trees. I’ve always found this to be easier keeping more natural colors, and the right amount of shadows without making photos overexposed.

Equipment

My equipment used for this photo was a full frame Sony A7RII, paired with my Sony Zeiss 24-70mm lens, and 6ft travel carbon fiber tripod, and ball mount.

Inspiration

I was born and raised in Florida, used to the swamplands. I moved to Tennessee about 3 years ago and love all of the nature and different landscapes here. I have been chasing waterfalls this past year, and Greeter Falls is certainly one on my list. I took a day that was cloudy with a chance of rain to travel here. I was hoping to not have many people around or swimming in the water hole in front of the waterfall. I was able to experience a 1 on 1 with this location and let the different angles speak to me for the perfect shot.

Editing

I try not to post process my photos much, as I enjoy looking back at my photos and see exactly what I got to see with my own eyes. These memories and sharing such beautiful locations with others, and inspiring others to travel, and see what this world has to offer has always been my dream.

In my camera bag

I use the Peak Design Everyday backpack 20L, and I keep my Sony full frame camera, Zeiss 24-70mm lens, my Nikon 35mm prime lens & e mount adapter, 5 extra batteries and a charger, my GoPro hero 9 black edition, tripod, battery bank for emergency charges, extra SD cards, toothbrush and toothpaste for those unexpected longer than anticipated trips.

Feedback

Embrace the opportunity where you are in nature. Take it all in before you start taking your photos. It will help when you start looking at your surroundings for different photography ideas.
