Your photos of birds are amazing! Where did you take them? Miranda

Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken at Corella Dam, Cloncurry, Queensland, Australia

Time

Taken mid morning, handheld. I had to suffer from bug bites to get this photo

Lighting

Very bright sunlight which helped with the 200-500 mm lens at f8 and a Nikon AF-S 14E III Teleconverter

Equipment

Nikon D850 Handheld

Inspiration

This was a bird I had not seen before and was very pleased to photograph, even though I knew I would be suffering from insect bites

Editing

Basic sharpening and exposure to represent actual colours and lighting

In my camera bag

Nikon D850. Nikko 200-500mm 5.6 lens. Nikko 24- 120mm f4 lens Nikon AF-S 14E III Teleconverter, plus Nikon 105mm Macro and a couple of prime 35mm and 50mm f1.8

Feedback

I set the camera to Manual, F8, and Generally around 1250 shutter. But will go to 4000 for inflight shots, do not worry about ISO but set an upper limit depending on the shoot. I do not use Adobe or Lightroom. But do sharpen, and modify exposure to try and obtain a photo that represents the scene or subject as I observed it
