My goal for this summer was to take a detailed photo of a bee. Bees are so important, they help to pollinate plants that produce many seeds, nuts and fruits that serve as a food source for local wildlife. Bees’ pollination efforts also mean that plants can flourish, creating a more colourful environment for us to live in.

This photo was taken on a walk through Droitwich. I have always been intrigued by photography and in the last 2 years I have become very determined to improve on particular areas, one of them being wildlife / nature photography.Time
I went out for a walk with my dog at around 11am and saw a few little bees on these beautiful flowers and couldn’t help but take shot after shot.Lighting
I wanted to get more light on the bee at the front to highlight the detail, whilst leaving the other bees and flowers in a blurred background.Equipment
I used my Canon EOS 250D with my EF 70-300mm zoom lens, which is by far my favourite lens to use for wildlife and nature photography.Inspiration
I have been following a few nature photographers and they have taken some incredible photos of bees and other insects close up and I tried to recreate that in my own way.Editing
I didn’t do anything to alter this photo. This is exactly how I took it on the camera and I’m so proud of how it came out!In my camera bag
I always have my EF 70-300mm zoom lens, my 18-55mm lens and my 75-300mm lens and I love to swap between them depending on the subject.Feedback
Just keep taking photo after photo and each time you’ll start to see a new angle or a new lighting and eventually you will get the perfect shot.
